Lisa Tomaselli, Head Trainer

Lisa is a lifelong equestrian. Her passion for horses began at age five, when she began taking lessons locally in her home state of New Jersey. As a junior, she rode with Eamonn Hughes at Drumnacross Farm, and continued riding throughout college in the Open Division at Virginia Tech, from which she holds bachelor’s degrees in animal and poultry science, and biology.

After turning professional, Lisa taught and rode under the tutelage of Simonetta Meisels at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, and also became the head coach of Pace University’s IHSA Team. Lisa went on to become program director at New Canaan Mounted Troop and also head coach of Fairfield University.

In 2011, she founded Stony Lane with the goal of creating a safe, fun and professional environment in which riders of all levels can achieve success. Her expansive riding and coaching experience, combined with her long-standing professional relationships, allow her to source top quality horses and care for clients. Lisa takes pride in carefully matching horse and rider, with a strong priority on suitability and soundness.

Over the past decade, Lisa has taught countless junior and amateur clients, helping them to qualify and ribbon at local, regional and national championships, including Medal and Maclay Finals.

Lisa is a also USHJA Certified Instructor, and is currently working on her Hunter and Hunter Seat Equitation and Jumper judging cards. When she’s not in the ring, she enjoys spending time with her young daughters, Madeline and Eleanor (and yes - both are already pony obsessed!), their pony Henry, and Lisa’s retired jumper Magic.
